The Mediterranean scrub

Holm oak, strawberry tree, myrtle and mastic, and the herbs that scent the wind

Around Siniscola, Mediterranean scrub rules the landscape: a tangle of evergreens such as holm oak, strawberry tree, myrtle and mastic, hardy plants made for long summers and mild winters.

Then there are the medicinal herbs. Sage, thyme and lavender grow wild and scent the breeze, and they have always been part of traditional Sardinian medicine. Along the coast you'll find sea lilies and Posidonia seagrass, which works underwater like a green lung.

And there's pompia, the knobbly citrus fruit that grows only here, in the Baronia.
